Bad Tattoos

I don't have any tattoos. It's not that I don't like them, because I do. It's really that I like them too much, and I don't think I would be able to stop once I got started. I guess I'm a bit to cerebral about the whole tattoo thing. But I'd rather be too cerebral than to suffer the consequences of people I have seen with absolutely awful tattoos.

I think too many people get tattoos when they're too young. Don't get me wrong, it's not that they're too young to decide whether or not to get a tattoo, it's that they're too young to make a good choice when getting one.

Let's face it, some tattoo artists are really, really good. Others . . . not so much. Sadly, some younger people get a tattoo and are not willing (or unable) to pay for a quality product. I once dated a young woman who had a tattoo of a kitten playing with a ball of yarn on her shoulder blade. The artwork of this tattoo was so poor, it actually made her look rather ridiculous to me.

Another young woman has a pair of matching tattoos on either side of her belly, just below her navel. So when she is wearing a bikini, I see these things and wonder what the hell she was thinking. I honestly don't even know what they are. The just look like two orange/red blobs on her stomach. She obviously got these when she was really young, and now she's stuck with these two ridiculous looking things on her.

Women aren't the only ones with bad tattoos. Men take bad tattoos to an entirely different level. Is it me, or does it seem like men can't spell. I can't tell you how many of my male friends have tattoos on their forearms with some sort of "saying" on them. The problem is, there are often spelling and/or grammar errors on them. Guys, if you're going to go get a tattoo . .  bring a proof-reader with you!
